This might be the most simple and fun DIY project there is. You will need a new or used candle stick, hot water and your creativity to make any bent candle.
The first step is soaking your candle in hot water; it doesn’t need to be boiling. The hot tap water works perfectly. At first, I tried using a large pot, but the water cools down too fast. By using your kitchen sink, you are able to add more hot water as needed. The most important part of this step is to wait until the candle is soft enough for you to start bending it. If you try to bend the candle before it is soft, it will crack.
You will be able to feel the wax getting soft and then you can just start bending your candle into any shape you want. I recommend doing all the bending while it is under the hot water. It does get a little hot on your fingers, but it is the best way to avoid having any cracks.
Once you are done creating the shape you like, you need to run the whole candle under cold water so it hardens again. Lastly, cut the bottoms flat so it can stand without any support.
This DIY project is a great way to upcycle your old candle stick or to upgrade any candle into a more unique look. You can use them on your tablescape, on a bookshelf or as a special gift.
